My Stay in Rayleigh Essex

When I was in Rayleigh, I had a great time because I was driven by a cab driver that showed me all the best places in Rayleigh. For just a few days, I was able to go and see almost all the perfect tourist spots that Rayleigh has to offer. This is all with the help of Rayleigh Taxis service. Clegg: Raise tax threshold further and faster

Nick Clegg will say later that he wants the coalition government to go "further and faster" in raising the pay level at which people start paying income tax to £10,000 a year.

The deputy prime minister will argue that many families are at financial "boiling point" and need more relief.
The coalition has promised to raise the income tax threshold to £10,000 by the next election, set for 2015.
Labour said Mr Clegg had "a cheek preaching about fairness and tax".
The deputy PM's speech to the Resolution Foundation in London follows official figures showing the economy shrank by 0.2% in the final quarter of 2011.
It also comes ahead of the Budget on 21 March, increasing speculation that changes to tax thresholds could be announced.

Apple reported record-breaking net profits for the three months to 31 December 2011

Apple reported record-breaking net profits for the three months to 31 December 2011 of $13.06bn (£8.36bn), up 118% from the same period in 2010.

The company also sold 37 million iPhones, more than twice as many as it sold in the last quarter of 2010.
"Apple's momentum is incredibly strong, and we have some amazing new products in the pipeline," said chief executive Tim Cook.
The firm is expected to release its iPad 3 in March this year.
"We are very happy to have generated over $17.5bn in cash flow from operations during the December quarter," said Peter Oppenheimer, Apple's CFO.
"Looking ahead to the second fiscal quarter of 2012, we expect revenue of about $32.5bn and we expect diluted earnings per share of about $8.50."
Apple's shares rose 6.8% in early trading on the Nasdaq technology stock exchange following the opening on Wall Street, reaching a new high of $449, and valuing the company at almost $420bn (£270bn).
Strong sales
Analyst reaction has been very positive on the news.
"We're right in the middle of a transition from feature phones to smart phones and Apple is doing an amazing job in generating profits from this," Colin Gillis at BGC Partners told the BBC.
Carolina Milanesi, at Gartner said: "As expected this was a blow out quarter for Apple across businesses."
"This to me demonstrates that consumers and businesses alike are continuing to see the value of Apple's end to end offering."
Apple saw strong sales for both its iPads and its Mac range of computers, rising 111% and 26% respectively compared to the same period in 2010.
In contrast, sales of Apple's portable music player, the iPod, fell by 21%.

officer wrote off an unmarked car during a test drive.

A police force has said it is considering changes to its driving policy after an officer wrote off an unmarked car during a test drive.

The Greater Manchester Police officer crashed the £33,000 VW Golf R on Wharfside Way, Old Trafford, at about 01:50 GMT on 15 December.
The driver was taken to hospital and treated for a back injury.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman refused to reveal details of how the crash happened.
He said that "as a result of the incident, GMP is reviewing its policy on officers test driving cars".
The officer, who has recovered from his injuries, is currently suspended from driving duties while an internal investigation takes place.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash involving the high-performance car, which is billed as the fastest accelerating Golf going from 0 to 62mph in 5.7 seconds and with a 155mph top speed.
The officer was a member of the force's automatic number plate recognition intercept team, which works to disrupt the criminal use of motor vehicles.

Rescued Kursaal bowling to open in weeks

THE owners of the Kursaal’s tenpin bowling alley say they hope to bring back good times for the business when it reopens next month.
The finishing touches are being done to the 30-lane alley in the iconic Southend seafront building, before it opens to the public on February 2.
The lanes closed suddenly on November 23, after previous owners Tenpin pulled out after selling it to new owners 1st Bowl.
Peter Loader, 1st Bowl’s regional manager, said the company is hoping to restore the alley to its former glory while providing great entertainment at the same time.
Mr Loader said: “There used to be six or seven leagues running in Southend, which is something we would love to restore here.
“There will be a great package on offer here, as well with the amusements, bar and pool tables alongside the tenpin bowling.”
“It should be a great place for parties, families and corporate groups.”
The future for the lanes looked bleak when Tenpin pulled out, but Kul Singh, who will be the general manager when the doors open again, believed bowling has a bright future in the town.
He said: “There is still a fair amount of work we need to do to make sure we can open on February 2.
“But we are very confident everything will be ready in time for us to open on time.
“We are all very excited to be bringing tenpin bowling back to the seafront.
“We have also been speaking to our neighbouring businesses, who all been supportive and just as excited about seeing bowling coming back.”
The Kursaal first opened in 1901, but tenpin bowling only arrived there in 1998.

Revenue and Customs has one of its biggest bases in the country in Victoria Avenue, Southend.
The union is protesting against what it calls the "privatisation" of Customs contact centres.
Members also striked last year over changes to sick leave rules and contact centre closures.

Japan has announced its first annual trade deficit in more than 30 years, a setback for a country known for its exports including cars and electronics.

The deficit came in at 2.49 trillion yen ($32bn; £20bn) for 2011, the finance ministry said.
Japan's imports rose 12% and its exports fell 2.7%, compared to the previous year.
The decline in exports was attributed to the impact from the earthquake and tsunami on 11 March.

 Struggling exporters

The deficit underscores the pressure that Japanese exporters have come under since the disaster.

Factories were damaged and supply chains disrupted for major exporters including Toyota Motor and Sony.
Exporters' problems have been exacerbated by further disruptions to production in some of their Thailand facilities due to flooding, as well by a rising yen, which makes Japanese products more expensive overseas.
The uncertainty surrounding Europe and the US has caused global investors to turn to the yen, as a safer investment, causing it to appreciate.
Analysts warned the combination of these factors was hurting Japan's exporters as rivals from South Korea and other Asian nations compete in markets which Japanese companies had previously dominated.
"It reflects fundamental changes in Japan's economy, particularly among manufacturers," said Hideki Matsumura of Japan Research Institute.
"Japan is losing its competitiveness to produce domestically."
