Angry driver in roof-top protest over clampers

AN ANGRY driver has climbed on top of a garage with a loudhailer to protest after he was clamped.

The man clambered on top of the Total petrol staion in High Road, Benfleet, this morning and is now shouting from the roof with a loudhailer.

Police have arrived on the scene and eventually managed to convince the man to come down voluntarily shortly before 12noon.

A crowd of about 30 onlookers watched on as the man was not arrested but taken to Benfleet Police Station.

This follows a sit in at the garage yesterday when clampers moved in to catch drivers parking on the forecourt.
