More easyJet flights to Spain from Southend
easyJet has revealed plans to launch 70 extra flights a week from Southend Airport in time for the 2012 Olympics.
Three of the ten routes due to be launched next April are confirmed as Barcelona Airport and Ibiza Airport in Spain and Faro in Portugal’s Algarve, while others may include Madrid Airport, Berlin, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast.
EasyJet may have to cut some services at London Stansted, but hope to fly 800,000 passengers a year in and out of Southend.
easyJet said: “In 2012 we are expecting to see huge demand from people around Europe to come to London. We expect easyJet to fly more people into London next summer than any other airline and Southend will be the closest large airport to the Olympics.”
