New Hotel at London Southend Airport

Work has begun on a new hotel at London Southend airport, which is being built to cater for increased demand due to the London Olympics and will create many hospitality jobs The 129-bedroom, four-star hotel will be situated adjacent to the Harp House Roundabout and is costing £10 million to build, revealed Tim Wheeldon, construction and hotel sector manager at Willmott Dixon, which is carrying out the work. He explained that it will stand five storeys high and will feature a restaurant and exclusive private dining room on the top floor, with guests able to savour panoramic views of the airport. "This hotel represents a considerable investment and reinforces Stobart Group's plans to develop the airport into a striking and modern new facility. We are working to a tight programme with completion scheduled before the Olympics," Mr Wheeldon added
