A 50-year-old woman suffered smoke inhalation following a flat blaze.
The fire broke out at the flat in Ridings Close, Basildon at 9.30pm on Tuesday.
Firefighters rescued the woman and the fire was put out within 30-minutes.
An investigation has now been launched into the cause of the fire.
